Firstly I should probably explain myself a little for not adding content for well over a month.
Basically I have been a little busy and had a larger than normal creative block. Because I will also be moving house soon content will be a little slow again unless Chris does something about it <not F***ing likely since he is also busy>. But once I have settled in more content will come again. Right now to print some retractions. Firstly when I did my merfolk mill deck I believed I could pay any amount of to mill two cards with drowner initiate; after looking deeper into the putrescent waters of the rules, I have found out you can only do it once per spell. This slows the deck by about three turn’s total but still an impressive deck none the less. Secondly the attempt at doing every creature type is an uphill struggle for any person, and I do not have all the time in the world. I am sure eventually it will happen but not all at once, nor within a foreseeable timespan.Right now that is done I do have something to show you today, honestly it will be worth the wait. The new set Shards of Alaria is coming out soon as many of you will be aware and I have been squinting for isthismagic.com to find for you THE FIRST pre-release card for the set. The Hellkite Overlord is a new dragon which will be seen in the “From The Dragon’s Vault†box set printed by magic the gathering and will also appear in the new set Shards of Alaria. The card will be a Dragon <*gasps of shock all round*>, it will be a 4/4 <this is the unreliable bit, since the power/toughness were blurry>. It will have flavour text, and cost ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() , it’s key worded abilities will be Flying, Trample and Haste. The final two abilities of the Hellkite Overlord will be Hellkite Overlord gets +1/+0 until end of turn <the standard dragon ability> and the final ability will be ![]() Regenerate Hellkite Overlord. My overall rating is a seven out of a possible ten; this card costs too much to be a real threat in a lot of situations, but once it is there it is a big problem on the table, it would have been nice to have seen it with doublestrike rather than trample, but this is a minor fault with the card. It also looses points for such a difficult mana cost colourwise, but knowing the green is there too helps since you can then fix the mana with spells like Kodama’s Reach. Also I have found out the background of the shards set. Simply the plane of Alaria used to be one big plane. However something happened separating the plane into smaller ones, each small plane has two ruling pairs of mana colours. This has lead to each plane being very distinct, it looks to me like Ravnica’s guilds blew apart their plane and they each colonised a share of it. There will be humans and leonine returning. Though I have already had a comment about an image of a human riding a lion, and it looking like Aslan <Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe>. So in mid October prepare to be blown to Narnia when Shards is released. That is all you get for today, but I will be back with more soon. There is always the forum if you want to keep up to date with isthismagic.com in the meantime.
