Let us talk about Blue today…. You already know my view on the state of the colour pie and that if you do not care pretend I am reviewing your colour again till we get to it in a few weeks. So now we can continue after this less than adequate introduction paragraph. What decks do Blue mages tend to build you ask? 1.   Control though the counter spell. These decks hold you down by denying your every spell, the decks tend to fail a lot since you can only say “NO†for so long before the little things get though. 2.   Control though theft. Another popular method of blue control is using spells such as confiscate. Which basically allow you to take what you want to beat the opponent to death with, it works but can be a tad slow. 3.   Milling. Blue has a good amount of cards that do this and for proof you can do it fast take a peek at the merfolk deck I built a little while back. 4.   Flying. Blue has a lot of cards that fly and so can often win with small flyers that just keep hitting, while a barrage of counter backs up the creatures. 5.   Unblockable. Blue has the most unblockable creatures in magic at this present time and as such makes for the basics of a good blue aggro deck <they do exist you know>. There are many other variations of blue but there is so much diversity in the game listing them all would take too long. Now it is time for the “How is <insert colour here> goodâ€. Blue is the undecided colour, it is very interesting to look at because it is the colour that keeps Black and White apart, these two colours have the most difference which tears the mind of Blue in two. On one side Blue has White who wants knowledge to better the community and do all kinds of nice things to help the world become pure and good. However Blue has a metaphorical devil on its other side in the form of Black. Black knows that knowledge is power and if one attains knowledge one becomes more powerful. And power to Black means lots of interesting things are in store for the other colours. So Blue is the colour of which temptation to be good or evil is most present. It is all in how the knowledge Blue discovers is used. As Uncle Ben in Spiderman says “With Great power comes Great responsibilityâ€. What does Blue believe in? -Knowledge -Development though research -Control -Illusions/Trickery -Man-made -Element of air and water -Progression -Depth Why does Blue like its allies and hate it’s enemies In White, Blue sees planning and forward thinking. Also it may see a practical use for its Acuminated Knowledge. In Black it sees a darker side, a way to gain more for itself. It sees its inner lusts and desires brought true. Blue also sees however the slippery slope that is the path to Black so often does not arrive there intentionally. In Red, Blue sees chaos, mindlessness and madness. These are the traits it evades because they do not progress research, it may also see the noise that Red is and like a library Blue likes to have the noise to a minimum. Blue sees Green as savage but is intrigued by this. It also sees natural order and tries to work on improving it or accelerating the natural process. But Blue also sees untameable wilderness which Blue does not like to see in the world. Since it seemed quite popular last time I shall close with people in popular and unpopular culture who are Blue.  -SpAn, our resident Blue dude is the first that comes to mind while playing Magic, but outside I do not think he is as clear cut on the colour pie. -Merlin – He’s a wizard, he reads books and does spells….can’t get more Blue than that. -The Doctor <Doctor Who>, why does he travel when he is not beating up aliens? It is because he loves knowing things and so will travel across the stars to learn more and more about the universe.
