Welcome to the great creature type slog as I am sure it will be known as after a few of these articles. Maybe some background to this stupid <at best> idea of mine is in order to start with. Sometime ago I Bromf came across a list of all the legal creature types within the magic game, and this gave me the idea to build a deck for each. By this point I assume you are muttering to yourself how off my rocker I must be to even contemplate this feat. Well who cares even if after this I’ll be in a mad house at least I can make some kind of new revolution in the Magic deck building. Just so you know there are about 215 creature types so we are going to get to know each other well, ;) <lucky you>. Anyway now you know just what you let yourself in for let me continue along. I though I would start of by getting you to connect with the real me so I am building a merfolk deck. Now let’s get some things straight, I love green most of all and blue is the colour I hate the most so it will seem like lunacy for me to say "This Deck is Ducking Oresome", but it is a great deck as much as I hate blue it seems I can still build it really well. This deck is standard legal would you believe, and mill-tastic, I have milled someone with a bad start with this deck before they had their seventh turn. Yes you read right that was not a typo it really was turn seven mill, what makes this more amazing is that it was just a simple combination of cards that kept hitting home hard every turn, one turn even saw a huge 25 cards go for the total of four mana. Maybe I should show you the deck already then? Ok sure thing.
This is the point in the article where I would normally tell you how to play this deck, and today will be no different I think. Using spells like Ponder and Foresee you can set up your deck ready for Ink Dissolver to do its kinship thing. Logic knot can be rather handy to stop the big X spells since you can remove your Forsees and Ponders to make them pay that bit more. There is a temptation also if you have two memory sluices and the ability to play them both and conspire them while having one Grimoire Thief in play, a tip is to play one then conspire with the thief and save the second sluice till the next turn this will get you 22 cards over two turns rather than 19 in one. Of course if the opponent only has a handful of cards left in their library and taking 19 at once will end the game the next turn then by all means do the latter. Also note drowner initiate is not a "once per spell" effect, so a late game Ponder with seven land in play can become a 12 card mill as well as fix your next turns as well. Merrow witsniper is mostly a token blocker after it has done its job of knocking off a card on turn one. Merrow Reejerey keeps you from burn spells and acts as a cog to allow an extra card or two to be removed before you cast more things to reload your tap millers. Ambassador Laquatus is good to soak up your left over mana if there is not a drowner initiate about to do it for you; and Sygg makes his deck tick over in a multi way situation as well as get you some extra blocking potential and draw you some cards from an open opponent game. The Drowner of Secrets is there to act as a safer route to tap your grimiore thief as well as taking four cards from your opponent. Lastly the Lord of Atlantis and Tideshaper mystic work as the back up plan and allow you to islandwalk to victory if the milling fails to work. Now you are wondering can I build this awesome deck of Bromf's? Well I have made this as a deck without cost in mind but I have found that these cards can all be ordered for an average of bellow £40 <English>, p&p included, so it is not cheap as it could be, BUT it is not like the big tournament winning decks sitting at the £200+ <English again> mark. Well I think this is enough for one week would you not agree, so look out for the next one of these articles.

This deck is an interesting mill deck, it works much faster than others i have seen. I hope i don't have to play you with one.
