Well, this is unusual. Here is a very unusual, but quite incredible combo that makes it entirely possible to win before anyone has taken a turn. Yes, that's right. It's a combo that relies solely on playing cards before the first upkeep of the game. Quite often do first-turn or second-turn win combos come about, but very rarely does one come across something quite like this.

Interested yet? Then read on.

The Fastest Victory Ever

Turn 0 win? No way...

Main Deck

60 cards

Sideboard

4x Island
4x Gemstone Caverns
8 lands

4x Elvish Spirit Guide
4x Simian Spirit Guide
4x Protean Hulk
4x Disciple of the Vault
4x Phyrexian Marauder
4x Shifting Wall
4x Street Wraith
28 creatures
4x Lotus Petal
4x Summoner's Pact
4x Mystical Tutor
4x Flash
4x Force of Will
4x Pact of Negation
24 other spells
(empty)

An odd collection of cards, and for the oddest combo I have ever seen. Take a good look at the deck listing, and see if you can work out how to do it before reading on.

Okay, enough suspense. How on earth are you going to win before the beginning of the first turn? Well, luckily, to pull this off you need to draw first, not play. Since most players will opt to play when they win the toss, all the better for you. You will also need Gemstone Caverns in your opening hand. Go ahead and have it in play, removing anything you like that will not help you with this combo (duplicates, etc).

Before your opponent's upkeep - this is their untap step still - tap the Caverns for blue mana, and remove either Elvish Spirit Guide or Simian Spirit Guide from the game for the extra 1 mana. Play Flash and put Protean Hulk into play with it. Notice the wording: you have to pay its casting cost, but AFTER you put it into play. If not, bury it. Oh no, we instantly lose that Protean Hulk.

Now we can search for creature cards. We need our 4 Disciple of the Vaults, so find them first and put them into play. Now, remember that X counts as 0 as far as converted mana costs go, so you can put all 4 of your Phyrexian Marauders into play along with all four of your Shifting Walls.

Having paid 0 for each, all eight of them die. Each time, due to the Disciple's ability, you may do 4 damage total (one each) to your opponent. This does a total of 32 damage. Now let your opponent's first untap step end.

End of phase, -12 life? That sounds like a victory before the game even began to me!

Note: Credit goes to the person who found this excellent combo - a video can be found on Youtube.

I have seen some silly combos in my time bu this one is actually knocking someone down and kicking them whilst also spiting in their face, and just for good measure rubbing salt in the wound. If this happens to anyone you have my sympathies.

And stop taking your deck ideas from youtube:)
