This is something I wrote after half finishing the green article for the cycle of decks that illustrate the core beliefs of each colour in magic. It’s a 40 card deck that is quite simple and if it works it can have a turn four 7/7 flying, vigilance, indestructible creature <but you guys do not want that sort of thing do you now?>.

Flying with Wolves

A deck of wolves

Main Deck

40 cards

Sideboard

8x Plains
8x Forest
16 lands

4x Watchwolf
4x Wilt-Leaf Liege
4x Wilt-Leaf Cavaliers
12 creatures
4x Wheel of Sun and Moon
4x Shield of the Oversoul
4x Serra's Embrace
12 other spells
(empty)

The idea behind this is a simple one; you get a watchwolf out on turn two then give it on turn three the shield of the oversoul and attack. On turn four you cast Serra’s embrace and attack with a 7/7 flying, vigilance, indestructible wolf: from there the game should end quickly! Also if you do not get the wolf there is the other six creatures in the deck which can get all the other bonuses.

The Wheel of Sun and Moon is your safe guard against any nasty kill decks since it will keep your deck rolling over nicely.

Tips on playing the deck, well they are all above really its just a cute idea for a deck, and it tends to be game over when you have wolves flying at you Laughing.

If you wanted to make this into a 60 card deck the I advise more hybrid cards like Selesnya Guildmage. Try and evade any non-hybrids other than watchwolf as this keeps the mana curve nice and smooth making for easier play. If you have the money try adding some Brushland or some Temple Garden but since these are expensive land cards you can always use Selesnya Sanctuary which are a lot cheaper and one of the best mana smoothing cards in the game for budget players <however notably not in standard>. But I think the deck is fine as it is otherwise and should play quite nicely, do not be afraid to enchant your other creatures with the Shield of the Oversoul - the Watchwolf is just the fastest and most fun way in my opinon.

First article, in the bag!

Awww flying wolves thats adorable, however it can be very affective twatting someone in the face with a big creature that early on i the game.

BTW this is the third article i have read for fun and relaxed deck building, as for myself i have never been that good at it, i try to build around a theme then get to 80 cards and its realy hard to get rid of the ones you don't need.
